Speech therapy includes prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of communication, swallowing, and cognition of the patient. The plan of care is designed to address articulation, fluency, language comprehension, expression, processing, and oral/laryngeal muscle strength and coordination in regards to safe swallowing.
The speech therapists are highly trained to address and help patient overcome communication conditions as well as swallowing difficulties. The patient's deficits in memory, attention, and problem solving are assessed and treated as part of the plan of care.
The speech therapy plan of care includes working closely with your physician, nurses, therapists and home health aides to ensure patient safety and communicate diet needs and changes.
